Retrain & refresh
Keep your bot accurate as your content changes by retraining sources on demand.
When to retrain
Retrain a source whenever the underlying content changes in a way that would affect what the bot says:
- Prices changed
- A policy was updated (return window, shipping times, support hours)
- A product was discontinued or renamed
- New content was added to a page the bot already learned from
- You found an incorrect answer and fixed the source page
Minor changes like typo fixes or cosmetic rewording are unlikely to affect answer quality and don't need an immediate retrain.
Retrain a source
Go to Sources in the sidebar. Each source card shows its last training date.
Open Sources in adminEach source card shows its status and last trained date.
Click the three-dot menu on the source card and select Retrain. For website sources, DGbot re-crawls the URL and updates the knowledge base with any changed content.
Click the three-dot menu and select Retrain to start a fresh crawl of this source.
The source switches to Processing during retraining. When it returns to Ready, the updated content is live.
Delete and re-add
For file uploads (PDF, DOCX, FAQ), retraining re-processes the same file already stored. If you want to update the content, you need to delete the source and upload the new file.
Click the three-dot menu on the source card and select Delete. Confirm the deletion. This removes all content from this source from the knowledge base immediately.
Click Add source and upload the updated version of the file.
Scheduling refreshes
DGbot does not currently auto-refresh sources on a schedule (coming in Phase 2). Set a recurring calendar reminder to audit and retrain high-priority sources:
- Weekly — sources with frequently changing content (pricing, stock levels)
- Monthly — general website content, policies
- Quarterly — stable reference documentation, user guides
